Daffodils

This world can be very ugly and often times we get discouraged.

My mama used to say, “If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.”

Unfortunately, that is true.

Truth is that right now there is this shadow of darkness over us. . .It is one thing after another.

Collectively, our hearts are breaking and I am not sure quite what to do with the pain.

But, I believe that there is still beauty in this world. There has to be; there just has to be.

Take time to spend time in a garden, to enjoy the beauty that is God’s creation.

Of course, it is too simplistic to even remotely entertain the notion that just looking at flowers will make the pain of this darkness in this world go away. It won’t, but if just for a minute, maybe looking at something lovely will remind us that goodness and beauty does exist.

It just has to.

It just has to.

Our hearts are broken in this world.

I believe that God will not and has not abandoned us.

Pray for peace; pray for healing; simply pray.

I am a published poet and short story writer. I have been published in SNHU's the penmen review. https://penmenreview.com/author/jenny-andrews is the link where you can find my poetry and a short story. Previously, I self-published my novel "Bully Another Day," "Short Stories and Vignettes", and a poetry book "Spaces between the Pause" on Amazon/Kindle. Due to abysmal interest in my self-publishing venture, I have unpublished those three projects, as well as my poetry book "Life at the End of the Rainbow." However, I plan to be more aggressive in trying to find a traditional publisher for these projects.

  1. Thank you for sharing. my inner world and foundation deeply resonates with your post. I draw a lot of resilience and inner strength from taking time to think or some times spend time contemplating on the beauty of God’s creation. As you hinted, it is actually too simplistic for some people or even most people to remotely entertain the notion that just viewing the creation around us will remove us from the world’s darkness. on a personal level, it is the simplest things of life that turn me on and mostly get me out of depressing thoughts or emotions. I look at life and living as miracles, even until this moment. I am so serious about it. having gotten used to viewing life as s gift from GOD and a miracle, makes and keeps me happy even in the midst of nothing.

I saw your self-published novel “Bully Another Day but unfortunately I couldn’t buy it even through I noticed that the price is inexpensive. Life has not been fun financially, especially for over a considerable number of months. however, my tone and outlook on life could make people think otherwise. I read the description of your novel and it makes me feel like I would enjoy whenever I get my hands on it. I still have it in my heart to get the novel in the the future if the tide turns for me.

    1. Thank you for reading my post. Keeping focused on God is the absolutely only way to truly get through the difficulties of this life. Thank you for considering buying my novel; I truly understand financial difficulties especially in light of the past two years. I pray that things begin to look up for you. Trust in God; He alone provides. Stay blessed.
