Hopelessness

Here we go again!

Told if we get the vaccine life would go back to normal.

Well, now we have to don the face mask once again regardless of vaccination status.

So, what was the point of vaccinations if you still have to wear a mask?

And please don’t answer me with all sorts of excuses, such as science is blah! Blah! etc.

I personally don’t care about excuses and reasons.

All I know is that I want to live my life free of this constant bombardment of hysteria.

It’s as if nothing we do will satisfy this, this thing.

I am just tired of it. It is grinding. It has gotten to be just too much.

Where can I go to escape this?

Am I just lost here on this lonely planet?

I would like to just find a quiet, safe place where I don’t hear the constant drum roll of Covid-19, and now Delta variant. What’s next? Epsilon?

It begs the question when Eta, Theta and Iota will manifest themselves.

Perhaps, these will show up this fall.

I surely hope not, but they probably will.

Let’s not forget Kappa, Lambda and Mu. Yep, I can just imagine these are all just waiting in the wings. I truly believe that it just will not end, all of this. . . .

Geez! It’s like some sick Fraternity/Sorority prank that has been played on the world!

Is this just the new normal?

It makes me feel absolutely hopeless.

I just cannot envision covering my face again as if I am some sort of pawn in a game I don’t want to play.

Mask up, folks!

Better yet, don two or maybe even four to be as safe as possible.

Vaccinated??

Mask up, too.

Just put the dang thing on and don’t say a thing.

Do exactly as you are instructed.

Do.

It.

Now.

No.

questions.

asked.

HOPELESSNESS.

It’s not going to get any better.

Of that I am now convinced.

Welcome to the new normal.

I am a published poet and short story writer. I have been published in SNHU's the penmen review. https://penmenreview.com/author/jenny-andrews is the link where you can find my poetry and a short story. Previously, I self-published my novel "Bully Another Day," "Short Stories and Vignettes", and a poetry book "Spaces between the Pause" on Amazon/Kindle. Due to abysmal interest in my self-publishing venture, I have unpublished those three projects, as well as my poetry book "Life at the End of the Rainbow." However, I plan to be more aggressive in trying to find a traditional publisher for these projects.

    1. Apparently, you’ve completely misunderstood my blog. I in no way suggested people should not get vaccinated. I was expressing my frustration at the seemingly endlessness of this entire situation. It appears to be getting worse rather than improving. Vaccinated people are still getting the virus. Why all the politicizing and grandstanding among those in charge? Why are people being vilified simply because they have a differing opinion? Why is it becoming so polarizing? This whole mask or not to mask is taking on the quality of a cult. As a I said, I was simply venting my frustration at the seemingly endlessness of this issue. Masks evidently do not seem to help much since most people have been wearing the mask, yet the numbers of infections are increasing. Why is that, do you think? Why doesn’t the FDA go ahead and approve the vaccines? What about the hold harmless in which you can’t sue the pharma companies who produce these vaccines? I am a thinking person. I ask questions. Another thing, science isn’t fact; all you have to do is look back in history. Once upon a time, it was thought that the world was flat and that if you put leeches on people and bleed them it would cure them of whatever ailed them. “Science” can be wrong. Theories can be wrong until backed up with fact. Of course, if people just blindly goose step and fail to ask questions. . . well then, what you end up with are . . .dictatorships and the such. I believe in EVERYONE’S personal right to express themselves. I refuse to be bullied into silence and to be bullied into being afraid.
I believe that if a person’s medical advisor recommends the vaccine, then that person should absolutely take that advisor’s advice. If someone has a medical condition that might preclude the vaccine, then they should forego it and not be banished to second class citizen status.
How about people eat nutritiously and strengthen their immune system?
I question. As an American, I was brought up to question, analyze the facts, pray to God for guidance, and then make my decisions based on that, rather than emotion and a deep-seated need to virtue signal.
I do not need anyone’s approval for my opinions.
I believe this situation is getting out of control. Taking sides one way or the other is not helping those people who need help. People are being made afraid; fear never helps.
      God’s blessings to you.
