Hi Everyone,
This is the cover of my poetry book I put on Amazon/Kindle almost two years ago. It has not been selling. I have tried to market it on WordPress. Other bloggers have been very kind and have promoted it, as well as reviewed it. For this support I am very thankful.
I am also very discouraged because I feel that it has just been sitting out there in the virtual world despite my best efforts. Perhaps, my best efforts aren’t enough. I am very happy for those of you who have had success in promoting your books and making sales. I am not sure how you have managed to do it; perhaps, you all are far more outgoing than I am.
I am seriously considering removing my poetry book from Kindle/Amazon and looking into reaching out to more traditional publishers or literary agents. Maybe they can help me or advise me. I am not sure what to do. All I know is that I feel very isolated in this virtual world of writing. I feel as if I am flinging my words into an abyss, a black hole in a limitless expanse of nothingness. I, in short, feel as if I have been swallowed up by an immense void of darkness and silence. It has become quite deafening, this silence.
I have always loved to write. I have been told that I am a gifted writer. I have been rejected more than I have been accepted, however. Go figure. The world is upside down, anyway. I have grown to expect very little from it, except for occasional glimmers of light in an otherwise dark tunnel.
Thank you all so much for your encouragement over the past few years that I have blogged on WordPress. I do plan to continue blogging. I do so enjoy it. I just am quite disappointed in not seeing my poetry book reach more readers. Maybe it’s just that the world is just so big and there are so many writers and that time just marches on and that we just cannot control for destiny or the lack thereof.

I had no idea you had a book. That is a shame because you ARE such a gifted writer. There’s got to be a market somewhere.
I don’t know much about Amazon’s publishing practices but I think, if possible, it’d be best to keep it on that market until another sure market is found, then you could consider taking it down. But again, I’m not entirely sure how that works.
I will definitely be checking the Kindle later on when I get home. I’ll definitely check it out if it’s there.
And even though it’s easier said than done, don’t lose hope. Something will come of it.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. It means a great deal. I will keep it on Kindle for awhile as I search for a different market. The Kindle edition has a different cover than the hardback cover that is pictured here. In advance, thank you for considering buying my book.

Hi Jenny, I didn’t know you had already published a book either until I scrolled through your previous posts. Often, talented writers get lost in the vast expanses of the world out there. I’ve noticed that authors who were successful at selling their book were doing a combination of things. Marketing books online requires regular promotion of yourself & your book, knowledge of SEO, building & reaching out to your communities. It may require you to go to a local poetry meet up or do stand-up at a coffee shop and share a few lines from your book. Some book shops with a lot of foot traffic host authors to share how they came to write the book. Reach out to other authors who write within a similiar niche or genre. Support each other by featuring each other’s work which exposes your book to wider audiences. Your book may need rebranding. I bought a kindle version of your to read as I have the flu, so I have the opportunity to read😀

Hi Theresaly,
Thank you so much for your suggestions and for buying my book. I am definitely going to rebrand it. I am thinking about going with a book press that can reprint it for me and they will also help me market it. I have done reading at a local poetry meet up a few times. I am so unsure about keeping it on Kindle/Amazon. I guess I will for the time being until I am definite about going through the book printing press. They said they will put it on Amazon as well as part of their marketing. I will have to further investigate. Again, thanks so much for reading my blog and supporting me as a writer.
